We were informed by the SPCA of this young female dog who had been handed in
by her former owners. She had been there quite some time and her days were
numbered. She was only 9 months old

Dino and his family had previously applied to adopt a German Shepherd and had been patiently waiting, sweet girl matched the criteria on his application.

After a successful trial visit and followup "Nina" became a permanent member of Dino's family, living a happy life on a life style block in Auckland.

Bella was a sad sight when we first met her. Obviously used as a breeding factory her body was so out of condition, when she squatted her stomach smacked on the ground and hurt her. She was unable to run but loved her ball, (hence her name "Bell of the Ball" = Bella) and you could see how badly she wanted to play with it but she was so very uncomfortable. The vets at Forrest Hill Veterinary Clinic performed a tummy tuck on Bella to give her back her youthful figure and much needed comfort. She needed months of care with long crate rest. A special crate was built for her to give her lots of room and to make her comfortable. She continued to thrive and several months later went to live with Kate and her fiancée where she is a much loved member of their family.

ADOPTED

Approx 7 year old (could be younger) female. Unclaimed stray. Is pedigree, but tattoo unreadable. This poor girl looks like she has been used for a breeding factory. She deserves to know that there is more to life than being used to produce puppys. She has such gentle eyes and very friendly. Excellent with other dogs. There must be someone who can spare room in their heart to show this girl what love is all about.

3 year male. Super friendly with children, loves tummy rubs. Good with other dogs but chases the wee furry things so home without a cat would be best.

TESSIE

These pictures hide the horror that Tessie suffered for 18 months.
Strung up and hung with all four feet off the ground and kicked in the face, tormented at the end of a chain until she defended her self then beaten for doing so. Taken into the garage and beaten with a baseball bat.

Deprived of food to the point every rib showed.

10 weeks of care with a loving couple have brought Tessie back to a healthy condition. I met with Tessie and found her to be very loving and responsive to a kind word.

She was friendly to me and kept giving me her ball. She walks well on a leash and already knows basic commands of sit and down and beddie byes. She plays well with other dogs and can pass by a cat without chasing it.

Tessie will need a home that has someone home most of the day. In return she will be your devoted companion.

She cannot stay long term with her foster family though they would dearly love to keep her if their situation allowed it. Tessie is uptodate with vaccinations and is speyed.

Prospective homes will require a vet referrence as well as the customary home check.

Shania - ADOPTED 8.2.03 - Permanently placed now

Aged only 3 years, Shania is needing that "special" home where she can be reminded that there are nice people in this world. Currently in emergency foster care under going veterinary treatment, Shania is very gentle and accepting as her sores are attended to. She gets on very well with other dogs, children unknown, cats unknown. She only weighs 23kg at present but with frequent small meals each day until her stomach gets used to food, we hope that there will be a steady weight gain.

Shania's trial period with her new family went wonderfully well and on 23rd February, following a telephone call from their vet, Gary,Carol and Jessica were given permanent custody of Shania. She now weighs in at 26kg which is a 3kg weight gain in just 2 weeks.

Enjoy your new family Shania, I know you will know nothing but love from now on.

MAC

After patiently waiting through 4 attempts to have Mac neutered (due to a high temperature) so he could be released from the pound, the joyous day finally arrived and Mac was able to go home with John. This is one match that was meant to be. John is a very gentle, caring man and Mac (only aged 4 months) is blooming under his tender care. Following a recheck on 7.2.03 on how things were going it gave me great pleasure to sign Mac over permantly in John's care. Watch this space for photos of Mac in his new home.

Pictured are Mac and his new best friend Ben within one week they were best buddies.
